GM has announced a recall of four late model huge vehicles from two brands, such as two SUVs and two vans. The Chevrolet Suburban and Express van and GMC Yukon XL and Savana van, all from the 2012 model year and fewer than 7,000 units, are affected. The issue is with a component of the steering system. You can get good auto loans rates for your brand new SUV or van.

Second SUV recall this month

GM, according to AutoBlog, has just announced a recall of select models of its large vans and SUVs, involving four models from Chevrolet and GMC. It is the second such recall to be issued by the business in the past month.

About 16,000 Chevrolet Captiva and Opel Antara crossovers were recalled by GM in 2006. The recall earlier this month was announced for two automobiles not sold in the United States, according to NASDAQ. They were both little SUVs.

Many lenders will do auto loans with bad credit

The most recent recall has a fairly limited scope. It covers the 2012 Chevrolet Suburban and Express van, as well as the GMC Yukon XL SUV and Savana van and extends to approximately only 6,159 automobiles.

Steering system fault

The Pitman shaft in the steering system was not hardened well enough to deal with prolonged operation, which is what prompted the recall, according to the Wall Street Journal. During operation, the shaft can break causing the driver to lose all ability to steer.

The issue will not be a problem until it has been used severely for five months or up to a year regularly, according to Reuters. A business that manufacturers parts for GM was found to have made the mistake, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Used as fleet vehicles for most

According to NASDAQ, no crashes or injuries have been reported as a result of the problem.

The vans in question, the Savana and Express, are mostly sold for use in fleet applications, often being bought for use for church groups and other shuttle applications because they seat up to 15 passengers.

Affected owners should expect to hear that they are affected by the recall before April 4, according to Reuters. The Pitman shaft will need to be inspected and exchanged in a few automobiles for free. Owners just need to take their automobiles to the nearest dealer for GMC or Chevrolet.
